Wild Wonders Walk - A Nature Walk with our Animal Neighbours
The Wild Wonders Walk is a leisure hike with our community members to immerse themselves in nature and to learn more on the human-monkey conflict. The walk aims to spread awareness and connect with different people of many backgrounds and enjoy nature. The walk is led by our volunteer, Emily, who is a regular hiker in Bukit Kiara followed by our staff member. Emily will take us on different trails in the park that leads to many beautiful flora and fauna. We will be lucky to encounter monkeys in the wild and being first hand to see human-monkey conflicts happening during the walk.
During the walk, we will have a few stops to rest and to hear safety interactions and ways to coexist with wildlife in shared spaces by ANP staff members. Besides that, we will share on how to recognise the monkey’s facial expressions and responsible tourist behaviour. Discover how facial expressions play a crucial role in understanding monkey behaviour and how you can interpret and respond appropriately.
In the future, we plan on doing our Wild Wonders Walk in different locations. This helps us to observe different behaviours and situations of human-wildlife interaction. By enlarging our hiking trails, we get to connect with many different people of expertise and have a shared conversation during the Wild Wonders Walk.
Interested in leading the hike or becoming our volunteer for the Wild Wonders Walk? Give us a message and we will be in contact with you!

Education Institution outreach programmes
One of the key aims of the Animal Neighbours Project is education; we are dedicated to raising awareness of human-animal conflict. We want to ensure that people not only understand why human-animal conflict arises – and the role that we all play in this – but also ways in which we can counteract and mitigate this conflict. We intend to reach people of all ages and walks of life and have begun our work in the UK focusing on primary and secondary school students.
Our outreach events include:
- Attending school events, using interactive games to discuss the consequences of feeding wild animals.
- Talks at school and universities.
- Research talks at secondary schools, discussing the research projects performed by the Animal Neighbours Project and the impact this research hopes to have.
- Poster-making workshops at primary schools, encouraging children to engage with human-animal conflict information and synthesise it into informative and persuasive posters.
Awareness booth
In order to raise awareness and educate on safety interactions and ways to promote coexistence, public awareness is significant. In the Animal Neighbours Project, we have our public awareness booth for joint events collaboration with schools, universities and official government bodies. This unique event aims to foster understanding, promote safety, and encourage open dialogue on the coexistence of humans and macaques.
What to expect at our awareness booth?
Safety interactions are very important. At our booth, you will learn valuable insights and practical tips on safe interactions with the long-tailed macaques. Our experts will guide you through essential dos and don’ts to ensure harmonious cohabitation.
Explore the fascinating world of primate communication! Learn how to read and react appropriately based on the important indications provided by monkeys’ facial expressions guided by our staff members.
Your thoughts matter! Engage in meaningful conversations with our team and fellow attendees. Share your thoughts, concerns, and personal experiences regarding human-monkey conflicts. Your insights are invaluable in shaping a more informed and compassionate approach to coexistence.
Are you interested in having our booth at your upcoming event? Contact us today to discuss how we can bring this enlightening experience to your community. Together, we can raise awareness and promote responsible interactions with our primate neighbours.

Educational Talk
Here in Animal Neighbours Project, engaging with the community and educating people on the human-conflict and promoting coexistence is our goal. In our awareness talk, we will discuss vital ways the community can work together and resolve the wildlife conflict in the long term. The speaker for the awareness talk will be our very own staff member who will share their journey in the Animal Neighbours Project.
Learning about safety interactions and recognising their facial expressions are very important for coexistence whilst practising ways to endorse negative perception of the residential area for the macaques. This helps change their behaviour and our furry friends can live safely in their natural habitat.
During the talk, our staff members will interact with the crowd asking their opinions and views. Hearing different thoughts from different points of views can help us understand the issues more. By the end of the event we will have a short interactive Kahoot! Quiz about the contents of the talk and the lucky winner of the day will get a very special present from us!
Interested in having us for a talk in your school or university? Leave us a message and we will get in contact with you!
