The Animal Neighbours Project (ANP) is a community-based initiative that addresses human-wildlife conflict in urban spaces through research, education, and advocacy. Founded in Malaysia in 2014 due to human macaque conflict, the project was inspired by Dr. Sharmini Julita Paramasivam, a veterinarian from Malaysia. Alarmed by public outcry and the lack of sustainable solutions, she recognised the need for a more informed and compassionate approach to human-wildlife coexistence.
ANP is a registered NGO (Registration No. PPM-087-10-26082024) and works in collaboration with the University of Surrey.
To create a harmonious ecosystem where humans and wildlife can share space and thrive.
To improve human-animal relationships in shared environments through evidence-based education, inclusive research, and strategic advocacy.
